A supported internship is a structured study programme, combining college and placement, equipping young people with the skills needed to gain paid employment.
The programme lasts an academic year and includes unpaid work placement of at least six months, which the student will attend two or three days per week.
During placement the student will be supported by a job coach until they become familiar with the role. The job coach also provides support to employers, increasing their confidence of working with young
people.
