Volunteers

Volunteers make a huge contribution to the health and wellbeing of the nation, giving their time, skills and expertise freely each year to support the NHS.

Here at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust we have around 800 volunteers engaged in 40 different volunteering roles. Volunteers come together from all walks of life to get involved with challenging and rewarding opportunities which match their availability, ambitions and passions.

Below is a summary of just some of our volunteering roles:

Meal time volunteers: assisting patients at meal times
Patient companions: spending time chatting to patients and sitting with them so they are not alone
Patient experience volunteers: Completing patient experience surveys to help us gather insights on how to improve services
Meeters and greeters: welcoming patients to the hospital and helping them to find their way around
Ward volunteers: to help staff with general tasks on the wards and also to spend time with patients
Hydration trolley volunteers: taking drinks to volunteers and staff on wards
Bookshop and charity shop volunteers: serving customers in the shops and managing stock levels

Volunteering differs from work experience and student placements as it is an ongoing commitment for a minimum of 12 months, with volunteers giving a minimum of 3 hours per week to their role. To explore volunteering opportunities please email Voluntary Services Administrator.
