The purpose of these clubs is to develop an awareness of how these careers link to supporting individuals within our communities and to consider what career opportunities the different professions may have.
The Skills Clubs are an afterschool club, which allows learners to explore how different professions work collaboratively to address health and social care needs of individuals.
The interactive sessions will run after school within the hospital, one 90-minute session per week over a five-week period.
The first week will be a ‘round robin’ style of an introduction to different careers. Learners will spend time with different staff members to find out ‘what an average day looks like’ and what inspired them to work within health and care.
Weeks two-four will involve guest speakers from different specialities, presentations and hands on activities.
Learners will not only develop their knowledge of the different professions; they will also have an opportunity to identify the skills and qualities that are essential to careers within health and care.
